Savannah Wheeler is a composer and songwriter for film, television, documentaries, and other media. Savannah's work is known for a sophisticated style that showcases her strong classical music background and deep love of acoustic instruments. Encompassing everything from lush orchestrations to minimalist scores, haunting balladry to up-tempo songs, she tailors her style to fit the unique needs of each project.
Savannah composed music for the feature film ANCHORAGE (2021) which has won numerous awards on the festival circuit since (Audience Award at Mammoth Film Festival, Audience Award at 46Laceno D’oro Festival International, Best Film at Oldenburg International Film Festival, Grand Prize at Stony Brook Film Festival).
Film works include the short film SOMETIMES, I THINK ABOUT DYING which premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Music department credits include VACATION FRIENDS (2021), HE’S ALL THAT (2021), TIMMY FAILURE (2019), and STAN & OLLIE (2018).
Having started piano and voice lessons at age five, Savannah trained as a classical pianist, vocalist, and percussionist as well as lessoned in trumpet, flute, and violin. During her schooling she was heavily involved in orchestra, band, and choir (concert, show and jazz), and as a teen won numerous state-wide competitions for voice and piano. In addition to her musical education, Savannah has studied composition working under the private tutelage of teachers and mentors, including jazz composer and trumpeter Carl Protho and award-winning film composer Rolfe Kent (DEXTER, UP IN THE AIR, MEAN GIRLS, STAN & OLLIE).
Savannah is also a singer-songwriter and producer of live events around Los Angeles. Her solo music contains elements of Americana, psychedelic folk and classical mixed with a vocal style recalling the crystalline beauty of singers such as Joni Mitchell and Shirley Collins.
